      Unfortuntately this recipe did not meet my expectations. I followed the instructions as stated, however, my chops were a bit overcooked and dry. Being that this is a contest entry, I followed the instructions exactly, and did not follow my instincts to not sear the chops for the 3 minutes per side as stated, as they were practically cooked through at that point and baking in the oven for an additional 20 had them a bit overdone for my liking. I used Granny Smith apples as no specific type was stated. The apples came out a really dark brown color, somewhat unappealing to my eye, and did not have the sweetness to them that I would have liked. The sauce was very tasty, I thought it would be too sweet but I found it to be fine, and it did help with the dryness of my chops, Sorry this didn't work out for me better, and maybe it will for other reviewers.       Out of all the contest recipes this was the first one I decided to try, but unfortunately it didn't go over well in our family. The chops were tender and the rub gave them good flavour but there were so many apples and they tasted like pork to me and no one at the table would eat them, so it was a waste. I will not make this again, but thought it was a great entry, just not one that we enjoyed.
