Baked Ham With Pineapple

"I got this from the Taste of Home website. The original recipe calls for a fully cooked ham but I always use an uncooked ham and cook it myself, you just have to cook it longer but a cooked ham would do just as well. This is the best ham I've ever had...honestly!"

directions

  • Place ham in roasting pan.
  • Score the surface with shallow diagonal cuts, making diamond shapes.
  • Insert cloves into diamonds (use as many as you'd like). I like to use quite a few.
  • Cover and bake at 325°F for 1 1/2 hours. Longer if using an uncooked ham. Go according to package directions.
  • Combine brown sugar and pineapple juice, pour over ham.
  • Arrange pineapple and cherries on ham and secure with toothpicks.
  • Bake, uncovered an additional 30-45 minutes or until a meat thermometer reads 140°F.

  1. Made this for Mother's Day. Perfect just as written. Thanks.

  2. Made this delightful ham on Christmas day. Did not add the cloves, but otherwise, made as directed. Very moist ham with a nice zing from the pineapple juice and brown sugar. Next time around, I think I will use a little less pinapple juice and try to make the mixture more like a paste so it adheres to the ham, but the juices were fabulous. Thanks!

I work at an automobile plant (no need to mention which one as this whole town is known for them). I have one son, Jamie, who is 30 and a grandson,Sean,(and a granddaughter on the way. My grandson is 12 years old-not spoiled at all-yeah right! LOL He's my baby and trust me he pretty much gets whatever he wants. We love Nascar and Ohio State Buckeyes-Go Bucks!!! I've cooked all my life (my family is from KY) and am just now starting to explore a lot of differnt recipes other than southern food. I love the recipes on this site and also get the best recipes from this site. I love people and talking to people and learning their likes and dislikes. I don't cook much during the week as my job keeps me very busy so by the time I get home I'm pretty much done. I have several different favorite places to eat out at, Red Lobster, Damons and Roosters(best chicken wings I've ever had) are my top 3 spots but on the weekends I cook up a storm.
