Delicious! Hit the spot! I didn't have the white wine but it was still good! I used fresh garlic, fresh lemon juice and Italian parsley! Yum! Making this again --it was a huge hit for all the Demos fans in the fam! Thanks for sharing!
While not quite Demo's Baked Chicken Soup, this is darn close. It is very good and very easy to make. Great recipe!
I am still trying to find out the secret recipe. I have asked and management tells me there is no Lemon in Demos soup. (most Greek recipes use lemon but not this one) I ask different questions every time, due to numerous reasons trying to get to the bottom of this well protected and delicious soup. I know there is no tarragon and if they use veggies they may use in their stock but not in the served soup. I think it is broth/stock, some sort of cream, butter, the rice and chicken and parsley sprinkled prior to serving. I am definitely going to try this recipe to see how it compares. The Italian dressing mix throws me a bit because it is Greek. And the baked part? Do you think that is just the chicken?? I also have learned to be careful with my rice or it will become mush. So far my recipe is the shredded chicken, stock, a small amount of cream, some basic chicken seasoning, pre-cooked rice, a little butter (you can see it on top of the soup at Demos) and parsley at the end. I am close but still am missing something. Cannot wait to try this version and thanks so much for sharing!!! Keep asking for hints from the restaurant - we may finally get it down! :)
My husband LOVES Demo's chicken soup and I've been dying to try and make this for him. I found this recipe and was so excited. It was easy to make I doubled it so i could freeze some .It is easy to make and it tastes so good. Just like Demo's thanks for the great recipe ;-)
Love this recipe! I have eaten at Demos' and YES this taste just like their soup. Infact, I have fed some friends this soup and they asked me where I got Demos' secret recipe. I will never tell!! HAHA ;) Thank you. We are enjoying it greatly
This is a great recipe!! I made this for my husband tonight & he really enjoyed it! I had to improvise on the dressing mix amt since I had a .7oz pkg--I used about 4 1/2 tsp & it seemed to work fine. I didn't use any wine or lemon juice cuz I had none--and added about 1/2 tsp parsley. I couldn't cover my pan at the end, since I didn't have one, but just rolled with it & waited for the rice to heat through! (used brown rice & skim milk!) Thank you for a wonderful new soup for him to enjoy!
I made as directed but added carrots and left out the wine (I'm a red wine gal myself and didn't want to open a bottle of white for 1 tbls). I think it definately needs some veggies to add color. I would also leave out the extra salt because the salad dressing mix has more than enough. UPDATE - I only had a taste of this and gave it all to my DD and brother. They both raved about it. I still would like to see more color so I will add more veggies next time (and I'll try more than just a taste for myself!).
Five stars - more if possible !!! My only addition was some diced mushrooms. This was fabulous soup and pretty straightforward to make, what's more the children loved it.Made for Everyday is a Holiday.
Absolutely delicious! I used Basic Chicken Stock for the stock and added some frozen mixed veggies to make this a complete meal. Made for PRMR Tag.
very close to the restaurant's soup, and it's absolutely delicious!
