Comfort food!! If you are a lover of oatmeal, try this wonderful dish! A good breakfast item and very satisfying. An easy fix-ahead dish with leftovers warmed in the microwave.

Ingredients Nutrition

  1. Mix all wet ingredients and combine with dry ingredients. If raisins are use, plump by letting raisins sit in warm water for 10 minutes. May add more cinnamon to taste.
  2. Pour into greased 9 x 9 inch baking dish. Place in refrigerator overnight for oatmeal to dissolve into liquid.
  3. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 30 minutes.
  4. Top with brown sugar and milk when served.

Loved it! Very easy recipe, easy to follow. I did soak the raisins and use regular oatmeal and I used chunky applesauce, the bits of apples added a nice touch. The instructions did not say to bake covered or not. So I baked covered for the first 20 minutes, then removed cover and stired. Came out beautiful and the smell was awsome! I really recommen this recipe for people who do not like mushy, gloppy oatmeal. This recipe rocks and will be a favorite in our household. I will add chopped nuts next time just because we like nuts. Thank you for sharing!

I try to have oatmeal a couple of times a week and the quickest way is to bake it and then warm it in the microwave. The brown sugar was reduced to 1/3 cup and the butter to 2 tablespoons. Old fashioned oats was used. The end product was a little dry but nothing that a splash of milk didn't fix. Made for the Diabetic Forum and *Heart Healthy Eating*

I gave this recipe 3 stars. This was good. I made it for breakfast. I cut the recipe half. My 5 yr old newphew did not like this with milk but decided later he liked it as a breakfast bar to snack on. My 7 yr old niece and I did. Neither my niece or newphew cared for the raisins I did add about 1/4 cup to my recipe. I made a few other changes to the recipe. I used Splenda brown sugar, Log Cabin sugar free maple syrup, natural applesauce. Overall this was good and I'll make it again. Thanks for posting a good recipe. Christine (internetnut)
