  1. If you haven't tried this recipe, do yourself a favor and make it. It has so much flavor, it is quick and easy to make from scratch. Adults and kids alike all enjoy these sandwiches. It makes a lot, so if you have small children/family, you'll have leftovers! You won't get this out of a can or package and once your family tries these they will protest anything else! Really good on toasted onion buns.

  2. Made the sloppy joes for today's lunch, and while they were very good, I found them to also be rather rich in taste. I had cooked up 5 strips of bacon in the skillet, placed the bacon on paper towels to drain, then tore into small pieces. I did sauté the celery and onions in the bacon grease for just a few minutes, before adding the ground beef and browning it 3/4's of the way, then added the garlic which I had minced. Finished browning out the meat, mixed together the Worcestershire sauce and ketchup, then added that to the browned meat. Brought to a boil, then lowered the heat to a simmer, and simmered (uncovered) for 8 minutes. They were delish! I did want to mention, I didn't have any red peppers to add, but the sloppy joes still tasted great, and I had used 75% lean ground beef, but cooked 1-1/4 lbs. of meat, which I had drained thoroughly before making the sloppy joes. Plan on making again, and still using 5 strips of bacon, as I thought the 5 strips gave the sloppy joes a nice bacon flavor. Shelby Jo, thank you for sharing this recipe. This recipe is definitely a keeper!

  3. These were really good Sloppy Joes. A definite difference than the package one that you add the tomato paste to. The difference to me was it wasn't as sweet. Had a delicious flavor though. I thought it was going to be to much worcestershire sauce but it really blended in so well. I really like the fact that it is done in a short time with one pan to clean. I only had hamburger buns but I think next time I would use onion rolls, I think it would give it a bit of a sweet taste that I miss. Thanks for sharing your recipe Shelby, my DD and her BF and myself really enjoyed these.

  4. These were very good. I drained off the fat and was able to make a smaller batch. The bacon gives these a good flavor. I used red and yellow peppers and spiced it up with some hot sauce

  5. These were really good and a little bit different than your average sloppy Joe. My family enjoyed them a lot! Thanks for sharing.
