  • Preheat broiler or greased barbecue grill to medium.
  • In a large nonstick skillet, heat oil over medium heat.
  • Saute mushrooms for 4 minutes or until tender; set aside.
  • In a large bowl, combine beef, garlic powder, pepper and salt.
  • Shape beef into 8 equal patties, about ¾ inch thick.
  • Top each of 4 patties with bacon and Cheddar cheese.
  • Top with remaining 4 patties, pinching to seal.
  • Place patties on a grill rack or broiler pan coated with cooking spray.
  • Grill for 8-10 minutes per side or until an instant read thermometer registers 160 degrees.
  • Place burgers on buns.
  • Top with mushrooms and desired toppings and remaining bun.
