Baci Di Dama (Orange Almond Cookies)

This delicious cookie came from The Encyclopedia of Italian Cooking. Orange and almonds spells nothing but YUM!

Ingredients Nutrition

  • 1 cup ground blanched almond
  • 12 cup sugar
  • 12 cup minced candied orange peel
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour, sifted, divided use
  • 6 -8 tablespoons milk
  • 12 cup semisweet chocolate piece, melted


  1. Preheat oven 350ºF.
  2. Put ground almonds in bowl with sugar, orange peel & all but 1 T of flour.
  3. Mix well, then stir in enough milk to give a smooth, firm dough.
  4. Roll into small balls, place well apart, on a baking sheet lined with greased wax paper.
  5. Sprinkle with the remaining 1 tbsp flour.
  6. Bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown.
  7. Transfer to a wire rack to cool.
  8. When cold, sandwich cookies together in pairs with the melted chocolate.
  9. Chill in the fridge for 1 hour before serving.

I don't know if I did something wrong, or if something is missing from this recipie. These were awfully dry and tasted floury- very disappointing, unfortunately, the recipie sounded promising.
