I tried this recipe a couple of years ago ,when I got it off of 'zaar, and it's been a favorite ever since! This is one of those soups that's great anytime, winter or summer(the lime makes it very refreshing).I've never been able to find blue corn meal where I live,so I just use masa harina sometimes with a little white corn meal thrown in for texture .I do like to up the cilantro a bit,but that's just personal taste.Another thing i like to do is add a little bit of spinach to the soup;it adds great visual appeal and ups the nutrition.5 stars!

The dumplings were OK, but the soup part was to die for! (which is what I am rating this on). The flavors are great and it is a wonderfully tangy soup. I could see chicken breasts or turkey meatballs being an excellent sub for the dumplings. We only used 2 onions, so decreased the oil to a tablespoon. Served 3 as a main course.

superb! The spicing is just perfect, and the taste is to die for. It's rather like a cross between chicken soup with matzoh balls, and sopa di lima and onion soup. Take the best of each lol. Its also great for a stuffy nose :) A keeper to be made over and over
