This came from the Company's Coming Comfort Cooking cook book. It is really great, my fiance loves it and requests it all the time. There is always lots of sauce left over to go over rice or noodles!
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 1 cup water
- 1⁄2 cup white vinegar
- 1 tablespoon soya sauce
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 4 -6 boneless skinless chicken breasts (cut into pieces if desired)
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons water
- Combine and stir the first five ingredients into the slow cooker. Add the chicken. Cook on low for 6-8 hours, or on high for 3-4 hours.
- Combine cornstarch and second amount of water in a small bowl, stir into slow cooker. Cook on high for 15-20 minutes until sauce is thickened.
- * This can be done in the oven as well, just adjust the cooking times.
It was ok, but it tastes like BBQ chicken instead of sweet and sour. It is quick and easy.
Delicious! And not only that, soooo simple. It took no time at all to throw this together. I served it with rice and mixed vegetables. The flavour was wonderful... exactly what you would expect from Company's Coming Cookbooks! Thanks for posting!
