I introduced this to my mom and sister and it has become a staple in our house. I HAVE TO HAVE my strawberry smoothie whenever Carb Countdown is on sale.
This makes a great, simple snack; as a smoothie, it is fat-free (when fat-free Hood is used) and VERY low-calorie. The Hood Carb Countdown milk becomes much creamier than regular or soy milk, making it ideal for a whipped smoothie. I initially tried to make the Cool Whip version with strawberries, but left it in the freezer for too long, so it was a bit frostier than I had hoped. :x My favorite way to enjoy this treat is as a frothy smoothie made with frozen banana chunks instead of berries.
I have to say...I was doubting that this would really make a cool-whip type mix, but I tried it and I have to say it works! However, I discovered that it only whips up into the cool whip texture when the Hood Countdown Beverage is cold. Let it warm on the counter a little and all you will get is a yummy shake type drink. Still, I am definately putting this recipe in my "Tried and True" cookbook. Thank you so much for posting.
