When I was growing up, my mom made this every Christmas. The smell of it lingering through the house would be sure to wake us all up, and run for the kitchen.

I only wanted one loaf so I halved the recipe...I'm not a chocolate person, so I omitted the chocolate chips...It also only took 1 hour to bake...Perhaps the 1 1/2 hours the recipe calls for, is because of the original 2 loaves in the oven? I'm donating the loaf I made to a bake sale next week and I'm sure it'll go quick...Thank you for posting this recipe!

Well, I was somewhat disappointed by this bread. I expected much more flavor and a moister bread than what i got. I found the spices to be off balanced and the bread to be somewhat heavy and not at all as moist as you would think with pumpkin. I followed the recipe exactly as written. Nice flavor and goes well with coffee but still...was a tad disappointed overall.
