Aussie Christmas Rum Balls

"This recipe has been used in our family for many years. It uses everyday ingredients and comes together in just a few minutes. I looked for similar on 'Zaar and couldn't find anything. Charlotte J has advised that Vita Brits (I prefer these to Weet-Bix) are available in the US @ http://www.aussieproducts.com/Aboutus.asp"

  1. Made these for a party and they disappeared within 35 minutes. Very, very nice.

  2. These are the real rum bulls!! i just love recipes that remind me of when i was little. Perfect and easy.

  3. Yummy! I made these for a Christmas function and part of a few Christmas gifts. They were so easy to make and I like the fact there was no cooking involved perfect for our hot weather. I didn't add the optional raisins and used a splash of rum essence because children may also eat them. I made half with desiccated coconut and the other half with chocolate sprinkles, so it was very pretty on the plate. Hubby pinched a lot of them even before the function. He really liked them and everyone was trying to work out the recipe. :D Thank you for posting darang61

  4. really great recipe!!! was very sticky, but did roll in to balls quite nicely despite this... i'd suggest grinding up the weet bix really well so they don't end up to chunky, and it will hold a bit better too!! and DON'T omit the raisins- it maketh the rum ball!

  5. Yeah! These are the ones I made as a kid. It was a bit messy but all the better to lick your fingers, he he. The raisins really make it and Bundy rum is the way to go!

I'm a busy mum to 5 plus a precious grandson. I've always had a passion of serving healthy nutritious and most importantly tasty food to my family and friends. Being an Aussie I have a insatiable appetite for bbq'ing . My cookery books fill three shelves of a large bookcase and I use the internet constantly looking for new recipes and ideas. My passion for food and cooking has been passed down to my children with 2 now being qualified chefs and another 2 working part time in the food industry whilst studying. My grandson has enjoyed the benefits of a 'foodie family' and has only ever eaten food freshly prepared by us and usually grown by a member of the family as well. <img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/susied214/permanent%20collection/Adopted1smp.jpg" border="0" alt="Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket"> <img src="http://www.satsleuth.com/cooking/RecipeSwap2.JPG" width=100%> <a href="http://s7.photobucket.com/albums/y254/Missymop/?action=view&current=crazykeas.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y254/Missymop/crazykeas.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a> <img src="http://www.satsleuth.com/cooking/Swap14.JPG"> <img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/susied214/permanent%20collection/PAC08Main.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"> <img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/susied214/permanent%20collection/adoptedspring08.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket">
