Aunt Debbie’s Cherry Dessert

"My mom got this recipe from Aunt Debbie. As a kid I use to think this was almost like heaven. It tastes a bit like cheese cake, but fluffier. The last time I made it for a BUNKO night, the ladies gobbled it up."

  1. I've made this a few times and LOVE it! what a great low carb way to get your cheesecake. I used cherry pie filling and another time Recipe #152992. When I made the berry sauce it was still quite warm so I refrg. the creamy filling and topped later with the berry sauce. Thanks so much for posting, Color Guard Mom! Roxygirl

  2. This was a nice, light summer dessert. It's not at all heavy like a cheesecake. I used almond extract in the Dream Whip, too...it just seems right with the cherry filling. Husband wants me to put it in a graham cracker crust next time so I'll try that. Made for Name Game Challenge 2008 (in honor my sister Debbie).

  3. I had a hawaiian party tonight, so I made two of them. I was not sure how they would go over, butTHEY DID !!! Everybody loved it, and wanted the recipe so I copied about 8 for some of my guests. It was soft, fluffy, and very good. I made two of them. The cream cheese filling was fantastic, and filling. Thank you so much for the recipe Color Guard Mom !!

  4. This was a very nice, light and fluffy dessert. I didn't think the cream cheese taste came through strong enough to compare to cheesecake, but I still liked it! I used light cream cheese and fat-free milk. Unlike the previous reviewer, I was able to find the Dream Whip and did not think the dessert was too sweet. I added 1 tsp. almond extract when preparing the Dream Whip per package instructions (pkg. called for vanilla). I used light cherry pie filling and used the whole can which is more than just 1 cup (I love cherries!). I stirred in 1/4 tsp. almond extract and 1/2 tsp. cinnamon to the pie filling. I also let the cream layer chill for 2 hours to set before adding the pie filling on top. This would be good for any flavor pie filling. Since I'm trying to lose a little weight, I am greatly appreciative of recipes like this that let me have a little dessert (my sweet tooth is insane!) without feeling too guity about it. : ) Thanks, Color Guard Mom!

  5. This was a hit with three of my male students and based on their views I rated this a 4 star recipe. For me, it was too sweet. I could not find the Dream Whip packets so I used Cool Whip. So, my Zaar family, if you like your desserts, you will love this! Me?...I'll still take another serving of eggplant instead....but that is me!
