My Aunt Barbara always came up with the best ideas! Here's one everyone has loved. Great comfort food served hot with vanilla ice cream is the way to serve this! NEVER anything left when this is served. A note from my cousin - use water if orange juice isn't available AND you can cut the OJ with a little lemon juice to cut down on the sweet.

Ingredients Nutrition

  • 2 large apples, peeled and cored
  • 1 (8 ounce) can crescent rolls
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 12 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 14 cup orange juice

Directions

  1. Oven to 400 degrees.
  2. Combine sugar and cinnamon, set aside.
  3. Cut each apple into 8 pieces.
  4. Unroll cresent rolls. Cut each triangle in 1/2 lengthwise to make 16 pieces of dough.
  5. Place apple piece at wide end of each strip of dough and roll.
  6. Place in 9" square dish. Drizzle with melted butter.
  7. Sprinkle with sugar mixture.
  8. Pour orange juice into pan but not over dumplings.
  9. Bake at 400 for 30-35 minutes or until apples are tender.
