Lovely tasting one dish meal and I do love those. I would make this again but the next time I'll par-boil the asparagus a bit. Mine was very small size spears and even being cut into about 3/4 inch lengths it was still quite hard when the dish was done. I used more cheese than ask for just because I like a really cheesy cheese sauce. All in all a very nice dinner with a green side salad.

  1. Place cooked rice in the bottom of a well greased 10x6 baking dish.
  2. Top with sliced asparagus.
  3. Melt butter in a saucepan; blend in flour.
  4. Add evaporated milk and water; cook until thickened.
  5. Turn off heat.
  6. Add salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce.
  7. Add cheese and ham.
  8. Pour over rice mixture.
  9. Sprinkle with almonds.
  10. Bake at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 35 minutes.
