Asian Ramen Coleslaw

"My sister-in-law makes this coleslaw and it usually disappears very quickly because it's so light and tasty. It can be a light meal if by adding some chopped and grilled chicken."

Reviews

  1. This is a great recipe. It has nice, complex flavors. I used sesame oil for half of the oil. Let it sit for several hours or overnight. The flavor will be better.

  2. My daughter made this for a Father's barbeque and it just disappeared right before your eyes. Everyone loved it and wanted the recipe. Double the recipes if you want seconds.

  3. Excellent recipe! I took to our friends game night because we have some friends that do not eat meat. Everyone loved it - no leftovers. I also used sesame oil and I would suggest making a few hours ahead of time. The ramen noodles were not as crisp so I may wait to add them 15-30 minutes prior to serving next time.

  4. I have made this many times, sometimes with cabbage cole slaw mix and sometimes with broccoli coleslaw. There is only two changes I make: 1. use a tsp of sesame oil and also use the seasoning packet--it really enhances the flavors. I am making this again today for July 4th celebration.

  5. It came out excellent and easy to make- I made a diabetic version using Equal instead of sugar and the Asian Ramen noodles instead of chicken flavor-yummy!

Tweaks

  1. I've been making a similar salad for many years. Instead of Cole slaw mix I chop two heads of Napa Cabbage. I use 1/2 sesame oil, 1/2 vegetable oil and I make the dressing the day before. It's always gone in a hurry.

  2. Use rice wine vinegar and half the sugar

  3. Toast the crumbled ramen; toast the sesame seeds (separately from the ramen). Omit seasoning packet, replace with a bit of salt.

  4. Added mandarin oranges
