Asian Barbecue Glaze
- 1⁄4 cup ketchup
- 1⁄4 cup hoisin sauce
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
- Cook all ingredients in small saucepan over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until thick and reduced, about 5 minutes.
simmering to reduce is a must on this recipe. I tasted it before and after reduction and it makes a huge difference. I also thought it needed a little pepper after tasting the finished sauce so I added 1/4 tsp ground black pepper. It now has a better balance with the acidity level. A very nice change of pace to bbq. I'll be using this again.
