As-Basic-As-It-Get Pork and Sauerkraut

From my Fix-It and Forget-It Big Cookbook by Phyllis Pellman-Good. Found on page 426. Attributed to Earnest Zimmerman or Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, USA.

Ingredients Nutrition


  1. Rinse pork roast; pat dry.
  2. Place half the sauerkraut on the bottom of slow cooker. Place roast on top.
  3. Cover roast with remaining sauerkraut. Season with salt and/or pepper, if you wish.
  4. Cover and cook on LOW for 6-8 hours, or on HIGH 3-4 hours.
  5. VARIATION: For added flavor, choose a crisp apple, core it, peel it or not, and slice it. Lay over seasoned sauerkraut at the end of step 3. Crumble 1-2 tablespoons brown sugar over the top.
