I have used this recipe many times (minus the icing) from a southern junior league cookbook. It is fantastic! Everyone loves it, and it is easy. The other great thing is the ability to make so many variations, like use vanilla in place of the almond extract, and mix 3T brn sugar, 2T cinnamon, and 1 cup chop.pecans, and use this mixture for the preserve layers. I have also tried adding bananas to the mix, or a lemon and rasberry variation. Try it!
