a very easy quick bread. If using butter don't use margarine, use real butter. I usually use black walnuts, but any type is good in this.

  1. sift together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and cinnamon.
  2. in separate bowl combine egg, applesauce, shortening and nuts. mix well.
  3. pour wet mixture into the dry mixture and stir just enough to moisten the dry ingredients.
  4. bake in greased 9x5 loaf pan @ 350 degrees F for 45 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
