I generally don't like traditional stuffings but this has always been a winner in my cookbook. I like to add some extra dried sage on top of the stuffing right before baking.

Ingredients Nutrition

  • 6 slices white bread, torn into small pieces
  • 3 apples, peel and cut fine (Don't use Delicious apples)
  • 12 teaspoon dried sage
  • 34 teaspoon salt
  • 1 dash pepper
  • 12 cup margarine
  • 1 medium onion, chopped fine
  • 12 cup milk
  • 1 egg, beaten

  1. Mix bread through pepper in a bowl and set aside.
  2. Melt margarine over stovetop and add chopped onion.
  3. Simmer a few minutes.
  4. Remove from stove and add milk and egg.
  5. Pour this mixture over dry ingredients and mix well.
  6. Bake in greased casserole pan at 375 degrees for 30-45 minutes.

Good stuffing recipe. Received compliments all around the Thanksgiving table.

I also don't generally like stuffing but this recipe seemed different and promising. Didn't disappoint at all. I had to cut back as I was making it just for myself; didn't get the proportions quite right and it was a little dry but still quite tasty. Looking forward to making a whole batch to share and delight someone else!

This was excellent!!! My Mom always makes an apple stuffing and I couldn't use it this year because I bought a deboned turkey roast. This is sooooo yummy - my kids gobbled it all up. I recommend cooking it uncovered for a while - I cooked it covered and it was a little too moist until I took the cover off for a bit. Very highly recommended - if you have never had apple stuffing you should try this one!
