    Pvt Amys Mom's Note:

A layer of apples, a layer of mincemeat and a streusel topping. I am not a huge fan of mincemeat but my father is, so every holiday I make him a mincemeat pie. This one is really Good and it looks as good as it tastes!! I got this recipe out of a "Borden, Home for the Holidays" leaflet years ago.

Very tasty simple recipe to use my leftover Christmas mincemeat. I omitted the nuts from the topping as my mincemeat had nuts already but I think the omission made the topping a little dull. If I had to do it again I would sprinkle some Demerera sugar for added crunch. I can see myself making this most Christmases.

Very easy and very, very good! I used Gala apples and baked it for 10 minutes longer with wonderful results. The apples and the streusel (which is really good, by the way) makes plain mincemeat pie very exciting. Can't wait to make it again next Christmas! The only thing I would change next time is to try a different apple. I don't think Gala is the most complimentary to mincemeat. Maybe a sweeter apple like Golden Delicious would work better. A combination of three different apples would probably be the best tasting.

Although I didnt not make the whole complete recipe, I still wanted to give my comments. I made the streusel from this recipe to make an apple pie using a store bought pie shell and Dorel's apple pie filling recipe, it was great. Thanks for the recipe.
