This is a good, fairly easy dessert to make. It was moist and just spicy enough, but fairly mild. My family ate it up, as did my teenaged daughters friends. I used exactly the ingredients called for and it turned out well.
I have the original recipe, with less spices, and it is one of my favorites! I do add more baking powder though (4t) because I like it lighter .. lately I also use about 1 cup of oil, and add half a cup of milk, and it is good that way and much lighter .. sometimes I use a 12-cup bundt pan and bake for about an hour, other times I make muffins (about 24) .. thanks for posting!
I made this to take to work to share with coworkers. The only change I made was to double the amount of nuts (I used chopped pecans), and add them right into the batter. I used granny Smith apples. This cake lasted all of 15 minutes, and everyone told me I could make it again, anytime. It was moist and full of flavor. I'm thinking of adding some raisins next time.
