These have an unusual taste- very wholesome and tasty. I enjoyed them alot. I used pureed pears instead of applesauce, replaced the cloves with a pinch of nutmeg and used orange zest instead of lemon (its all I had). They are perfect for fall. I think that I might reduce the honey and brown sugar a bit next time- a little too sweet for my taste but overall a very different and yummy cookie. Thanks Mirjam.

Mirj, This recipe was the husband's birthday present. He loved these cookies! The honey and lemon made them really unusual...but excellent. Thanks so muxh for posting.

A very good recipe. I had apples (and applesauce) to use up. I left out the raisins in half, because I have a friend who doesn't care for them. Not a good idea...the raisins really add to these, both in terms of visual appeal and taste. I think next time I'm going to add craisins instead...I really think that would be great! I did add chopped walnuts to the whole batch. I was worried about how soft the dough was, but thanks to Mirj's comment, I just tried it! I didn't have to add flour or anything. I do agree with the comment about them taking so long. Mine baked for 18 minutes exactly and I didn't use parchment, and didn't have any trouble !!

These are awesome! I do use the cloves and I found your recipe when I was catering the Temple for Rosh Hashana, they were a HUGE hit... after I made a second batch because the first got eaten by my family as they came out of the oven. LOL

What a great, moist cookie. I took these to a Sukkot gathering and everyone loved them. I did not add the cloves. I used a cookie scoop and got 64 cookies. I recommend the parchment paper as these were semi-difficult to remove from the sheet. There are only 2 problems with this recipe: 1) the cookies are great and you want to eat them all! and 2) the long baking time makes this seemingly go on forever (it took me 2 hours to get them all baked from a single recipe).
