Yum! I halved the recipe and used a Granny Smith apple which I minced rather than pureed. This was a great taste sensation - especially with the nutmeg. Thanks Boomette for a great new way to make mashed potatoes more special. Made for Gimme 5 tag game.

This is our first time to have apples mixed with shallots and potatoes. It really challenges our palate but it was good. Thanks for letting us know how an apple mashed potatoes taste like. We had this for dinner. Made for PRMR.

I've never had apple in mashed potato: what a fantastic idea! Smelt and tasted heavenly. This recipe had nutmeg but I also added some cinnamon (an obvious addition) and 1/2 teaspoon of brown sugar. I used Granny Smith apples as I was unfamiliar with the apple varieties suggested, and then, to add some crunch, I added some roughly chopped pistachios in step 7. We absolutely loved this and will be eating potatoes this way - and exploring further possible variations - again and again. That you, Boomette, for sharing a recipe undoubtedly destined for future stardom!
