A warming winter drink that everyone can enjoy! Add a shot of calvados or brandy to each glass to make an alcoholic drink. Note that the recipe needs to be made the day before serving. Adapted from Herkkutori magazine.
- 1 liter apple juice
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1 teaspoon clove
- 1 lemon, zest of, julienned
- 1 teaspoon brown sugar
- Combine ingredients in a saucepan and gently heat to boil. Simmer gently, covered, for 5-10 minutes.
- Remove from heat, transfer into a bottle and refrigerate overnight.
- When ready to serve, sieve the mixture and gently reheat to boiling point.
This was a great warmer-upper after a day of raking leaves, etc. Very tasty. I had never used lemon in cider before, usually orange, so this was a nice change. The spices were just right. Made for Fall 2011 PAC game.
