Just have to love these batter fried apples!!! I cut the recipe back to serve one, as I was using part of the apple in another recipe for a punch. Living here in FL seems to make a difference in bread type of recipes, as the batter was very thin, so I added some more flour which did the trick and the only other change I made was to add the cinnamon listed with the sugar to dip the apple slices (it wasn't listed in the directions). Oh my...these are as good as I dreamed they might be!!!!!!!!! The reason I selected this recipe was a memory from my childhood. We used to go over to a friend of my mother's home occasionally. She would often make old fashioned apple fritters. Fortunately for me, I missed the instruction to add sugar & cinnamon to the apples before putting them in the batter. But the results...........oh my....the exact same taste I was remembering and craving! Rarely happens especially when it was over 50 years ago that I last ate them. Thanks dear LifeIsGood!
