Apple Cannonballs

"Here's one for the grill. They can be baked in the oven too but I haven't tried them that way so I can't recommend a temperature or time. The recipe comes from Marlboro."

  1. We love these while camping. They are super easy to prepare, wrap in foil and place on the grill over the campfire. I especially like how they can be personalized by adding or omitting the raisins and nuts.

  2. Coring the apples wasn't working for me, so I sliced the apples. I cooked them (wrapped in foil) in a 400ºF oven for about 30 minutes until nice and tender. The skin on my apples was rather tough (no fault of the recipe), so next time I'll peel the apples. Served these with French vanilla ice cream on the top -- yum!

  3. This tastes kind of like apple pie without the crust. We cooked ours on the grill and they needed a longer cooking time than 20 minutes for the apples to get tender.

I'm originally from Philadelphia but moved to Atlanta in 2003 with my boyfriend. I don't have any children but I do have a very spoiled cat. Thanks to living in the south I now know what great sweet tea tastes like, how to make delicious collared greens, and that fried okra is delicious. I never used to say "y'all" before but now it's become part of my daily vocabulary. I miss real Philly cheesesteaks and hoagies. I love to read (historical fiction is my favorite). I love horror movies. I enjoy watching trashy reality tv shows. Fall is my favorite time of year. Georgia summers are horrible. I like to cook big dinners on weekends and quick easy stuff during the week after work. I have learned a lot about cooking just by being a member here and trying new recipes and I feel like I'm becoming more skilled in the kitchen which is very cool.
