This is a nice and easy cake to make. The cake is moist and rich. The fruit filling tastes a little like an apple dumpling. I did use a little extra cinnamon. I was very impressed with the finished product. I served it with a little vanilla ice cream. Thanks so much for sharing this recipe. Definately a keeper.
Found this very easy to make & I wouldn't change anything on it!! It was moist and had great flavor! I am not much of a dessert person But this one will be in my book !!
I quartered this recipe so I won't give it stars because it could be related to trying to make a small amount. I did it in a loaf pan and found there wasn't enough of the dough stuff but there was a good amount of apple, using two apples. Suprisingly to me, it was very easy to shred the apples with a regular grater. I used whole wheat flour, and replaces the white sugar with brown sugar in the apple mixture. For me, the bottom wasn't cakey at all, it was like a tart bottom, and the top was crumbly, although I felt it needed a little more flavor in the top half of the crumbly dough. The filling mixture was perfect, though. I would give it 3 stars.

Hmmm, topping was definately nice and crunchy. Filling was not too sweet nor too sour, actually it was perfect. Shredding the apples was definately an interesting way to make this dish and will be using this method in other baked goods. Bottom crust really resembles a cakey dough, so if this is what you are looking for, I definately recommend trying it. Thanks Pets for a nice dessert. Since you couldn't make up your mind on which pic for a default, I just randomly uploaded the 4 pics I took. So, we will both be surprised on which one the default will be. :)
This is a very interesting cake. It had a nice flavor, and the topping was crisp, more cobbler-like. 'Dough' was the right description for the cake part, rather than 'batter'.
