Apple Betty

"This is the recipe for apple betty found in the old Better Homes and Garden Cookbook from the 70's. You can't find this anymore, they've changed the recipe in the new one. This is so simple but completely delicious."

  1. Thank you so much for posting this!!! This is the recipe that I grew up with, my mom would make it for my birthday every year at my request. I have been looking all over for this recipe without the oats, breadcrumbs and other junk that's been added to the crumble recipe over the years. It's fabulous as is. Also, I've added a few berries to the apples when they're in season for a little added kick. Again, thanks for your post and shame on good cook books for changing tried and true recipies and leaving the name the same. Thanks again!

  2. My grandma has the exact recipe in her old cookbook. I was literally writing it down and decided to search food.com and see if anyone had the exact recipe and I found you!! I'm so glad because this is SO amazing! I love when my grandma pulls out her old recipes, they are always so delicious and amazing!! Thanks!!!

  5. Yay!!! I'm so glad you posted this recipe. I used to make this lots but the ex took my recipe book years ago. This is a wonderful & easy way to use fresh apples (firm & tart ones are the best!). My Mom asked me to make this for the holidays....so now I can!

I'm a misplaced Texan in Damn Yankee territory...SAVE ME!!! just kidding, although I do miss Texas terribly. I have found CT to be a beautiful friendly place to live. I love to cook and bake...but I loathe the clean-up. So, half the time my kitchen is clean and we eat out, or it's a wreck and we eat delicious. Oh well...
