I love oatmeal raisin cookies, but they HAVE to be homemade. This is the way I make them.
- 2 cups light brown sugar
- 1 cup shortening
- 1 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 4 cups oats
- 1 3⁄4 cups flour, all-purpose
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 3⁄4 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups raisins
- Heat oven to 350 degrees. Mix brown sugar, lard, milk, and vanilla. Stir in remaining ingredients. (I do all the mixing for this in my Kitchen-aid. Then my arm doesn't get sore. HA!)
- Drop the dough by tablespoons onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 15 minutes. Immediately remove from cookie sheet and cool.
don't change a thing in this recipe....just fantastic
