Tastes like it just came out of a Amish family kitchen!
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup light molasses
- 1 cup water
- 1 dash salt
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 2 cups shelled peanuts
- Combine sugar, molasses, water and salt in a heavy saucepan.
- Cook slowly, stirring occasionally, to 280 degrees F.
- Stir in butter and immediately remove from heat.
- Stir in peanuts.
- Pour onto greased marble slab or stoneware platter and let cool.
- Break into pieces.
Because of an allergy to corn I have been searching for a corn syrup free peanut brittle recipe. Can't wait to try this!
Sweet, crunchy creamy, delicious! Love the fact that I could easily click to change serving amount ingredients, and also nice to see a peanut brittle recipe that uses brown sugar instead of white--and also like using the regular shelled peanuts instead of raw peanuts, since that is what I have on hand. :) This is a great giftable recipe.
