My mother made this recipe all the time when I was a kid. She used pecan pieces instead of walnuts. She would let the jello slightly thicken in the refrigerator before adding in the other ingredients, and then chill it thoroughly. A delicious salad!
So yummy! My mother also made this while I was growing up and used pecan pieces as well. It's so good, and I'm glad to add it to my "go to list" for get togethers. Light and so good! Thanks for posting!! : )
I really loved this creamy salad... I used cherry jello and it was quite good as a snack and light dessert. I am on a quest to find the "jello salad" I remember eating when I was younger and while this was close, still not "the one"! It was a little grainy for me... I guess more stirring would help that? But good flavor... thanks for posting!
I love this recipe. So easy and yet so tasty... I usually use lime jello but today I used orange instead... it was still really good! Thanks for the recipe!

I have a variation of this salad in my amish cook book that calls for all these ingredients plus a can of drained mandarin oranges, and of course orange jello instead of lime. It's called cottage cheese salad. And it looks very pretty with the light peachy/orange color served in dessert glasses with a small dollop of whipped topping and a red cherry on top. A real keeper.
Easy to make. I myself didn't care for it that much but my friend loved it and almost ate the whole dish at one time. The little bit left over he took home.
