This recipe comes from 'Amish Friends Cookbook', by Wanda E. Brunstetter. It sounded really easy, hearty and comforting so I had to try it. It didn't fail to impress.
- 8 cups raw potatoes, shredded
- 2 cups uncooked elbow macaroni
- 2 cups frozen peas
- 2 cups cooked ham (etc.) or 2 cups cooked sausage (etc.) or 2 cups cooked beef (etc.)
- 3 teaspoons salt
- 1⁄2 cup onion, chopped
- 4 cups cheese, shredded
- 2 quarts milk
- Preheat oven to 325°F
- Layer ingredients in a large baking dish in order given; pour milk over all.
- Bake for 2 1/2 hours.
