Excellent soup. We made a couple of minor adjustments. Bone-in chicken for added flavor, a little lime and fresh cilantro livened it up, and like many other reviewers, we added a bit of heat with hot paprika and ancho chile powder. Definitely making it again.
The best ever!
I replaced 2 cans of broth for 3 cubes of chicken buillion 2 cups of water. Used 1/2 jalapeno pepper and it was perfectly spicy. Mind you, I love spicy food.
Absolutely wonderful. I mad this for my roommates and they loved it! Not too spicy, and super filling! Definitely recommend this recipe to everyone! Also, easy to make for a new cook.
SO AWESOME! My whole family loved it! My husband is quite a chef and I always feel a bit inadequate - but he raved along with all three of my kids, ages 8-16. I added a can of black beans and used cilantro, sour cream, colby jack, and tortilla strips for garnish - SO YUMMY! Note that you can change the number of servings right above the ingredient list and it changes the amount of ingredients automatically. I made 6 servings and had 1 bowl left with everyone eating 2nds and 3rds. Next time will be making the full batch for the freezer, if it makes it that far!
I love this recipe. It was my first time to make anything Mexican but it turned out great. Served it with crushed nachos n it was amazing. Thanks for such a great recipe
Awesome! Will add a touch more spice next time for my taste, but is excellent the way it is! In laws and family loved it! Served with broken tortilla chips, sour cream, and shredded cheddar toppings. Will definitely make again!!
Great recipe! Love it. Made a couple tweaks. I added a handful or two of cilantro an extra tsp of cumin and next time I'll add one can of broth and tomato sauce.
Very Yummy!! I mixed liquids, spices, and frozen corn to start it boiling. I added a can of rinsed black beans and a can of rinsed kidney beans to this mixture. I used fresh tomatoes and broiled them along with jalapenos(both already chopped) on high for about 15 minutes, before adding as well. I also cooked chicken and fresh veggies(separate) first in pan before adding to soup. After which, I let simmer for about 20 minutes. 10 star recipe, i agree!!
I didn't change this recipe much. I halved the recipe, used a can of green chiles instead of the jalapenos. Added 1 t of Spanish paprika, 1/2 cup of chopped celery, 1/4 cup of chopped green onions and about 1/2 cup of sour cream. I really liked the degree of spiciness not too hot and not too mild. We will definitely be having this again!
