Amaretto Sour Baci

When I was a bartender people always commented that I made the best mixed drinks. One of my requested mixed drinks was my version of the Amaretto Sour. My “secret” was the addition of 7-Up which I think gave the drink a gentle fizz that broke up the syrupy sweetness of the drink. I usually made my own sour mix, which was nothing more then Country Time Lemonade (another “secret”) or would mix lemon juice with some granulated sugar -- and shake vigorously. You can also use store bought sour mix.

Ingredients:

Servings: 1

• 1 ½ ounces carbonated lemon-lime beverage (I use 7-Up)
• 3 ounces Amaretto
• 2 ounces sour mix (or 1 1/2 ounces lemon juice with granulated sugar)
• 2 orange slices , garnish
• 1 maraschino cherry

Directions:

1. Pour ingredients into a shaker filled with ice or into a glass that a smaller glass can fit into and shake.
2. Strain into a highball glass and squeeze the juice from one orange slice into the drink and garnish with the other orange slice and a maraschino cherry.

Delicious! I love the soda addition because it gives some of the citrus sour taste without so much burn-your-tongue sour like you get with the sour mix. Very nice taste. I didn't have orange slices and had to cheat with orange extract...just a drop. Thanks!

This made the Christmas party a very fun event. The flavor was fabulous and it was a great twist with the 7-up in it.
