directions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Grease and flour a 10 inch Bundt pan.
  • Sprinkle evenly with almonds to coat pan.
  • Combine cake mix, eggs, pudding, amaretto, water, oil, and almond extract and mix together well.
  • Pour batter into prepared Bundt pan.
  • Bake for 40 to 45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
  • Remove cake from oven, and while cake is still warm and in the pan poke holes in the bottom and pour the Amaretto glaze into the holes and bottom of the cake.
  • Let the cake cool for at least 2 hours (the longer the better!) before removing from the pan.
  • To Make Amaretto Glaze: Combine the confectioners sugar and Amaretto.
  • Blend until smooth.
  • You can add more Amaretto as needed.

  1. "The longer it sits, the better it tastes," you say. Ours was gone the first day. LOL! It's THAT good!!!

  2. This is a great recipe. My girls made it for their grandparents anniversary. We made two 9 inch cakes instead of the bundt. The girls decorated with butter cream. The cake tasted amazing. I can't wait to make it again.

  3. MOIST, MOIST, MOIST!!! Followed recipe exactly, very pleased with results, thanks for posting.

  4. This was pretty good and aromatic. I didn't use the glaze thought. I iced it with almond buttercream and covered in fondant. Will do again.

  5. I can almost taste this now, except I don't have a yellow cake mix, boo hoo! Hey, does any baby boomer remember a recipe from scratch that contained sour cream,, butter, or margarine, orange extract, lemon extract, and almond extract? I have part of a newspaper clipping with the recipe, but the Amt. of butter, sugar & eggs, & sour cream are missing, & i don't know how to re-create it. It calls for 3 cups of sifted flour & a 1/2 cup of Amaretto, too! It was sooo delicious, as will this recipe be. Terri

Tweaks

  1. I followed the directions until I misread the amaretto amount. I added 1/2 cup of amaretto so I was afraid the mixture may be too loose so I added 1/4 cup of coconut flour. Turned out great! The family loved it!

  2. I made this as a house warming gift for a friend. she shared with everyone that was over and the LOVED it. her husband who doesn't like cake ate 3 pieces!!! they have already requested i make it again for tomorrow so that's what i'm doing. the only thing i did was add a little coconut rum to the amaretto and used vanilla extract instead.
