This is just excellent and impressive. I made my own pastry crust. The combination of flavors in this recipe are just perfect. A very impressive appetizer.
Excellent!!! Just a few tweaks and this would have five stars. I used a pre-made crust that I rolled out into my tart pan. I only used one large onion but it still seemed like to much...will decrease to 3/4 next time. i didn't have the Alsatian wine, just used a white table wine and the flavor was very good. Needs just a little "kick" of something else so i am going to add a touch of chopped bacon or pancetta the next time around. thanks!
Excellent! The flavours of the onions, wine and thyme are perfect together, and perfectly balanced. Not only does this tart taste great, it looks great as well. I used my own pie pastry and a dry white wine from Alsace, and a combination of red and yellow onions. I cut the olive oil by half. I made mini tarts as appetizers instead of one large tart. a great recipe. I realized to late i did not have cream so substituted low fat sour cream and it was delicious. Balanced the sweetness of the onions nicely. Scaled it in half and truly enjoyed it. would be good as side, appetizer or a main meal.
