For those of you worried about the chili taste after reading the recipe/reviews, add a teaspoon or two of ground cumin.
This is the first chilli recipe my husband has raved over and wanted me to make again and again, the only thing we thought was it is more of a stew than a chili, and I added a bit too much tabasco when I made mine. yes I think tabasco goes in any chili
Glad I only made half of recipe. Did not like. No chili spices. Consistency and color good but no real chili taste. My husband did not care much for it. will not make again.
I loved all the veggies in this chili recipe! Next time I'll chop the carrots smaller so they are more disguised - my husband didn't think they belonged in chili. I did cook the ground beef first before adding all the other ingredients - wasn't sure if I had to do that, the directions didn't say. This turned out great - a do over! Thanks, Lottidawe!
This is WONDERFUL ! I let it cook for the full 10 hours. I love HOT foods and this hits my spot. Unfortunately, no one else here does and won't go near this. :) Next time I'll put in MORE meat (just used ground beef) and put the chili's in last and not chop them up (read recipe) suggested in the recipe. Meanwhile, I have a lotta chili to eat. This ain't your mother's chili.
This is the best chilli I have ever made. Everyone thought I was a genius. I was a little worried about the cocoa powder, but it made it great! Try this!
Absolutely the best Chili we have ever enjoyed. We go to a Chili-Fest near our cabin in Northwest Wisconsin. Some friends & I decided to have our own contest for football tail-gating & this won hands down! We will soon be competing at the Chili-Fest with this recipe. Was asked to share it with several others..Thanks!
