Have made this several times with smoked Kokanee. Absolutely rave reviews! Sorry about improvising on the Alaska salmon, gotta work with what you have.
I have just made your dip, I couldn't resist trying it once finished, it tasted nice. I am going to let it sit in the fridge for 5 hrs before trying it. There is plenty there & I am going to share this with my neighbour who is really looking forward to trying it. Thank you for sharing your recipe.
I'm from Alaska and catch/smoke my own salmon. This is the ONLY salmon dip recipe that I use. I've found that other recipes have unnecessary ingredients that just overpower the fish but this dip is perfectly balanced. I follow it to a T and it turns out fantastic. More recently, I've been making minor adjustments just for my own preference. I add about 1 tsp of dried dill and reduce the mayo and sour cream by just a bit (not much, maybe just a couple of spoonfuls less of each). I let it sit in the refrigerator overnight and it is phenomenal the next day. I suggest that you let the flavors develop overnight, it just gets that much better!
Made this for a discerning group and they all discerned that it was GREAT! Made it a day ahead of time and tasted it at the time I made it and, of course, when I served it and it definitely improves by sitting. Oh, and made a small batch onion-less for the onion-adverse in our group and he loved it too.
OMG...this is DELICIOUS!!! Made it about 6hrs ago for a family football gathering I'm going to tomorrow (GO SEAHAWKS!!!) it's been chilling in the fridge and I just stirred it up. PERFECTO!!! I made it with fresh smoked salmon brought to me by a friend that lives in Alaska. SO easy to make. Thank you for sharing your awesome recipe!!
My husband loves this as-is, while I'd like to add a bit of dill. Either way, very nice!
Delicious! I made this to take to a potluck and it received praise from everyone. Since it was a mixed group, I used half the scallions but the full amount would be good for those that like onions. Next time I will cut the sour cream and mayo back to 3/4 cup each for a denser dip with a stronger salmon flavor and a few less calories.
This smoked salmon dip is absolutely amazing! We love smoked salmon, and I have tried many different dips and spreads, and this is by far the favorite! Each time I make it I am asked for the recipe by everyone who tastes it!! I usually make it a day ahead, so the flavors have lots of time to blend. Thank you for posting!
It really is outstanding. We used to buy a very good dip at the local deli but now I am always asked to make it. Note: The dip really needs 4 hours or more of sit time- a full day is best- for the flavors to mingle. Stirring a few times will help speed the process.
This is by far the BEST Smoked Salmon Dip! After trying a lot of recipes, I made this one for a party and .....YUMMY! Now, because it is super easy & fast to make, I frequently make this for a family snack and it doesnt last long. I serve this with Saltine crackers which I think really compliments the dip well. You cant go wrong with this one!
