MizzNezz, this was, indeed, excellent! Easy and quick to put together...and just the right size for a party of 4! I usually tweak recipes even just a little to suit our own personal tastes but I didn't change a thing when I made this cake (although next time I might use Kahlua instead of the water!). I even baked it for exactly 45 minutes! I don't know if it was suppose to turn out this way, but the texture of the cake was pleasantly fudgey! I will absolutely be making this again and again! Oh, MizzNezz, you are so smart and so talented! What a delicious cake! Great for our small family. I like to make a treat once in a while on the weekend, but usually end up with too much and we eat cake all week, or throw it out. This was just enough for a weekend diversion from our diet. And WHAT a cake! It was just delicious. I left off the chocolate chips, because it was father's day and DH just likes his cake plain; so I kept it simple. Thank you so much, there's a reason you're number 1!!!
This was good and moist for me. I used a full cup of chocolate chips (because I'm a chocoholic), and 3/4 cup of coconut. Other than that I kept to the recipe and I love it.
Was delicious. Was easy to make. Not a fan of nuts so i put in chocolate buttons, as well as putting them in the cake mix. Came out great. The top was a bit chewy, but i think i didn't add enough butter. The main body of the cake was soft and spongey. Served great with double cream.
This was a good cake, it wasn't quite chocolatey enough for me and I did make a few changes. I replaced the coconut and pecan with toasted slivered almonds. And subbed brandy as suggested for the water. It did turn out so pretty with the almonds that I didn't add the chocolate chips because I didn't want to spoil the effect. Thanks!!
I'm only 13 yrs old and i baked this cake with the help of my siblings for my dad's birthday. It was really easy to bake and the cake turned out great! It was just the right size and just the right taste! It was so chocolatey and the topping was delicious. I baked it for 40 minutes and it turned out perfect. I also cut down a little on the sugar.This cake was the best cake i have ever baked.
MizzNezz, this was excellent. The perfect size for the two of us. I used walnuts because we prefer them, and omitted the choc-chips because there's no kids at our house. And it was wonderful. It baked in 35 mins. The suggestion of using Kahlua instead of water is intriguing. I must try that. Thanks for sharing this great little recipe.
This was definitely different. I like the idea of a smaller cake, but I found it to be too bitter. The texture was great, it was moist, but for me the taste just didn't deliver.
Simply delicious is my vote too. I made it with walnuts as pecans are not easily available. I used grated milk chocolate for the sprinkle. The cake was so easy to put together and good to behold. It was a huuuuuuuuuuuge hit!!! Will be making this forevermore. Heaven's angels will be glad!! Thank you. :) Fay
