  1. I used temph bacon instead of the real bacon. The vegetaians in our family had grilled veggie burgers with the topping while the meat eaters had the burgers from your recipe. We all enjoyed them and will probably make again when it warms up and we are looking for meals to grill. Thanks for a great recipe.

  2. love this, used grilled fresh mushroom pieces, and the mayo had dijon mustard in it. wow that made the flavor even better. ty for recipe.

  3. Great burgers! I used fresh mushrooms for the canned, low fat mayo and 2% mf cheese to cut down on calories and Maple Leaf Ready Crisp bacon bits to cut down on clean up. Thanks

  4. Instead of bacon I used black and green olives mixed in with the onion. DH and I both loved them! I used pepperoncini peppers instead of the red pepper flakes and what a delicious flavor they brought to the burgers! We will have these again and I can't wait to cook them on the outside grill!

  5. Man, are these rich and good. We used ground turkey and fresh portabellos, whole grain ciabattas AND Dh made them all by himself. Not a big deal in some households but this isn't some households. GREAT burgers.

Tweaks

  1. This was sooo good. I didn't have any onions so I used a little bit of onion powder instead. I sauted some fresh mushrooms instead of buying canned. My bf thinks this is the best burger ever.

  3. My husband made this recipe and I loved it. He used scallions in the cheese instead of regular onions and omitted the onions and it was still fantastic. In addition he added diced peppers and onions to the burgers to give them a little oomph. We both agreed these are some of the best burgers we've ever made!

  4. The topping for these burgers was awesome! Instead of the peppers, we used onion soup mix to flavor the meat. We will definitely be using that topping again...and not just for burgers! I'm thinking steak, chicken, baked potatoes...

  5. Just Cher, these are just wonderful!! Reminds me of a recipe I have (Chipotle-Honey BBQ Bacon Burger with Gorgonzola Cheese recipe #60828) but not as much work. The only thing I did differently, was substitute fresh minced garlic for the garlic powder. This is going into my permanent recipe file. I'll be making this over and over again. Thanks for posting!
