  1. I made this today and it tastes like vegetable oil and bland cake :(

  2. Used the French vanilla cake mix and frosted with cream cheese icing, so incredibly tasty!

  3. Great falvor. I omitted the nuts and dusted with powdered sugar and drizzled a white chocolate glaze over top. Big hit! I'll be making this again. Great recipe to give to newly wed's learning to cook.

  4. This tasted very good and was easy to make but I think it would be better with some kind of lite icing drizzled on top....or maybe some white chocolate!!!!

  5. Pretty good cake..and I think it tasted better the 2nd day! I used a yellow cake mix and also added a package of cherry koolaid (no sugar) to add more cherry zing! It definately intensified the color! The cake itself was very moist and I liked the added bits of cherry throughtout the cake! I baked it in a bundt pan, adding a bit of extra time (5-10, do the toothpick test) Also, I nuked a tub of vanilla frosting to pouring consistancy and drizzled about half of that on top of the cake. I liked it better with just that bit of frosting. My in law was very happy with it (but then again, would he really say it was terrible when I went to all the trouble to make it for father's day?!)

Tweaks

  1. This is a wonderful and tasty cake that my family enjoys alot. I use the white cake mix for this cake and generally, substitute the almond extract with pineapple or orange. Sometimes, I substitute the almonds with walnuts. Wonderful cake here!
