4th of July Margaritas

Ingredients:

Servings: 3

For Red Layer

• 1 ¼ ounces tequila
• ¾ ounce triple sec
• 1 ½ ounces lime juice
• 2 ounces prepared sweet-and-sour mix
• 8 frozen strawberries
• 2 cups crushed ice

For White Layer

• 1 ¼ ounces tequila
• ¾ ounce triple sec
• 1 ½ ounces pineapple juice
• 1 ounce lime juice
• 1 ounce prepared sweet-and-sour mix
• 1⁄3; cup frozen pineapple chunk
• 2 cups crushed ice

For Blue Layer

• 1 ¼ ounces tequila
• ¾ ounce blue curacao
• 1 ½ ounces lime juice
• 2 ounces prepared sweet-and-sour mix
• 1 ½ ounces pineapple juice
• 2 cups crushed ice

Directions:

1. Mix ingredients for red layer in blender until smooth.
2. Divide between 3 glasses.
3. Rinse blender.
4. Mix ingredients for white layer in blender until smooth.
5. Pour over red layer, dividing equally between 3 glasses.
6. Rinse blender.
7. Mix ingredients for blue layer in blender.
8. Top off glasses with mixture, dividing amounts equally.
9. Serve.

Sue L--These were absolutely smashing. I served these for Zaar Cookathon/4th of July cook-out. Total hit. Not only did they taste delicious, they looked so festive and patriotic. I had 3 blenders set up at our bar. We had a lot of guests so this made things easier. Great idea :)

I made these for my parents and their friends yesterday (the Fourth of July) and they said they were delicious! They were not exactly what I pictured; the colors were not as bright as I thought they would be, and they didn't form perfect layers when I poured them on top of one another. Instead, they made a sort of marbley effect. Still very cool, everyone loved them - thanks for such a neat idea!
