directions

• Stir together all ingredients (dough will be crumbly).
• Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface.
• Knead 3 or 4 times.
• Pat or roll dough to 1/2 inch thickness; cut with a 2 1/2 inch round cutter, and place on a lightly greased baking sheet.
• Bake at 400°F for 18 to 20 minutes or until golden.
• -----------------------------------------------------.
• NOTE: Keep in mind that the secret for making excellent biscuits is-- Try not to handle dough too much or too firmly-- The less manipulation (kneading, handling dough a lot with hands) the better the texture.
• Now, About the bad reviews, please know this: In order for this to work, YOU MUST USE SELF RISING FLOUR. So go follow it "to a T" and if your girlfriend wants to break up with you over failed biscuits -- well, she is superficial and you'd be wise to break up with her before she breaks up with you! And always remember this: If you can't say anything nice, then don't say anything at all.

1. These are so easy to put together and have a wonderful flavor and texture. There is no excuse now to not have fresh baked biscuits in the morning. For a little change I may next time add some fresh herbs and maybe sauted chopped green onion. But as is, they are just wonderful. Thanks Fauve for another wonderful recipe. And Congrats on the football pool win.

2. Need quick, easy and delicious? You've found it. This is fast to get in the oven and results in a nicely textured and very tasty biscuit. The only change I made was to use low fat sour cream. Thanks for sharing your recipe Fauve!

3. I'm sorry this didn't work for me. They were underdone in the middle and I followed the directions and baking to a "T". I was very disappointed as this is one of only two recipes that I have not had success with since I have been a member.

4. Fast, delicious, and another recipe to use up the occasional bag of self-rising flour I buy. This recipe is even easier than most biscuit recipes, since you get to skip the step of cutting butter/margarine into pea sized bits in the flour/baking powder/salt mix. My clan would like me to add a touch of salt, but I haven't yet. I actually use a low fat yogurt instead of the sour cream (save the fat for butter on hot bisuits!). The second time I made the recipe, I was short of yogurt, and used about 1/3 of the amount with tahini dressing (sesame butter with lemon, salt, and parsely flakes). It was great, and the kids didn't notice they were getting more sesame. Serve this recipe hot out of the oven with a fresh soup. Everyone loves it.

5. I followed the recipe, halved it, AND IT STILL DIDN'T WORK. It tasted like a rock, actually. It was very disappointing because my girlfriend and I made a nice romantic candlelit dinner, and when our biscuits didn't turn out, she broke up with me. Well, I mean almost. It was close. Not making them again and I think I'm going gluten-free now.

September 15, 2007: Here's a photo of me and my two girls before leaving our hotel room to go to an Avett Brothers concert. We're all huge fans of the group. We're also huge fans of each other. It's fun to have adult children.

--- About me: I'm an artist, and art teacher to kids kindergarten age through 8th grade. My life whirls at a breakneck pace. I teach approximately 800 students, and have 30 different classes each week. It's crazy!!! The rewards, however, are the numerous hugs and good vibes I get from my students. If I didn't have my good-looking husband to stabilize me, I'd surely be sporting a straight-jacket. Oh, and did I mention my yarn obsession? I've made hundreds of crochet items in the past few months, and have a little shop on etsy. Check out my website when you have the time:
8754768"
