    I'm making a family cookbook for my family members and just got this from my aunt! I love it!

    1 pine board (change servings and units)

    Ingredients

    • fresh carp, 14 to 20 ",long
    • spices, of choice

    Directions

    1. 1
      Scale and rinse fish well.
    2. 2
      Cut in 1/2 and place on pine board.
    3. 3
      Add your favorite spices.
    4. 4
      Bake at 340* for 90 minutes.
    5. 5
      Remove from oven, throw carp away.
    6. 6
      Serve board with or without tarter sauce.

    Very funny, Wendy--and I've enjoyed the clever reviews as well! Sadly, I really DO want a good carp recipe as the fish-mongers here have big tanks full of the beasts! Another funny thing: the restaurants that translate their menus into English (for the likes of me) aren't selling as much carp as they might because "Fried Crap" just doesn't sound that tasty!

    Both of my cats would like to say thank you very much. When I threw the carp away, they both jumped it and had a treat. The pine board did not tenderize or soften at all. Almost broke a tooth on it. The cats rejected it as well, which is a real low point! I couldn't even get the woodpeckers to try it, apparently they like their wood minus a fishy smell... A few crows were interested in the leftover tartar sauce, but gave up after they hurt their beaks on the wood. I really can't recommend this to anyone and I wouldn't try it again.

    The pine board was unusually moist. I was pleasantly surprised. It went quite well with our bbq aligator ribs and squirrel kabobs. A new family favorite!
