I'm posting it for the World Tour, and haven't tried it yet myself, but it looks delicious. I modified it slightly. Serve these hot with meat or fish stew (called potjie in South Africa)."

"What you see is what you get but the cardamom is a nice surprise. The recipe is from the World Food Cafe in London (UK). They offer a sweet pepper relish with it but I'd prefer thinly sliced sweet peppers in a sweet sour vinaigrette. For vegetarians this is fine as a main dish but I can see this as a nice side dish for roast lamb or even chicken...."

    Recipe #135480

"Potjiekos has been part of the South African culture for centuries, since the first settlements at the Cape when food was cooked in a black cast-iron pot hanging from a chain over the kitchen fire. This could work as a crockpot recipe, or as a set-it and forget-it stew. Original recipe is from Conrad Gallagher's "In 3 easy Steps" cookbook...."

    Recipe #223206

"Loosely based on Cass Abraham's Tomato Bredie, but designed for a proper potjie pot. The Potjie pot is usually placed over a fire or barbecue. (though a large saucepan on the hob will do, honest!). This is a traditional South African stew, usually made with mutton. I adapted it so that you can get the ingredients easily in Britain's lamb-obsessed..."

"This has been in my family for 50 yrs, originally from a recipe book but we have no clue which one. You can use any type of bean and I enjoy it with all of them but I'm particularly fond of the Mayocoba beans usually found in the Mexican food section (although it is a Peruvian bean). If you use dry beans 1/2 Cup equals a 15 oz can after soaking..."

"When winter howls outside there is nothing more soothing than a bowl or cup of thick soup. The orange juice and spices in this recipe lend it the slightest tang and piquancy without interfering with the wholesome veggie taste.
