"I got this recipe in my email yesterday and made it immediately. We had it for dinner, but it would be wonderful for brunch. Although the original recipe did not call for reduced fat dairy products, using them makes this a nice and healthy dish. I used nonfat cottage cheese and full fat feta. The recipe is from Crisco. It was also suggested you could do a sweet version using fruit filled cheeses. These creams cheeses come in 200 gram round packs in Australia and for this recipe a South Cape brand of Savoury Cream Cheese was used...."

Do NOT stress over the filo dough. Think of that aspect like pie dough. You're making a top layer and a bottom layer. Don't worry about splits and such, or complicated applications of layer of this, layer of that. It's not important in this recipe.
