The oooohs and ahhhhs that you'll hear when you set this gorgeous cake on the table make all the extra effort totally worth it. Once you taste it, you'll be hooked. Red velvet cake with a silky smooth and ultra creamy cheesecake nestled in between the layers... YUM! It's such a special dessert! There are multiple steps here- basically you're making a cake AND a cheesecake. Set aside a good part of the day if you plan to make the entire recipe in one day. Cooling times are not included in the preparation times. I was given this recipe and told that it's a copycat of the Cheesecake Factory's famous Red Velvet Cheesecake Cake. The amount of red food coloring is totally outrageous but that's what the recipe calls for in order to get that beautiful color.
