This is a quick and super easy recipe. When my mother was pregnant with me this is what she craved and my grandmother made it for her almost everyday. Recently, while I was pregnant, my mother made it for me I have to admit it tasted very yummy! This is a great summer salad, nice and refreshing, but also is very good during the winter months.
I got this recipe from a coworker about 15 years ago. It was xeroxed from a magazine but I don't know what the magazine was. This makes a beautiful braided loaf, and the filling ingredients can be switched out with whatever suits your fancy.
This is a wonderfully smooth and creamy ice cream from the Epicurious web site. Be careful when cooking the custard, because it can go from thick and creamy to grainy and eggy VERY quickly. As soon as it thickens, pull it off the heat and pour it through the strainer (don't let it sit in the hot pot) and you'll be fine.
